The following transcript has been lightly edited for clarity purposes.

Tell Us About Yourself

My name is Rahki Perry, and I am from Nash, Texas.

As soon as I turned 16, my mom took me to apply for a job.

I come from a family that just works really hard, and she’s always taught me about how to work for everything that I want and need.

So, that prepared me to where I am today, and I admire people that come from nothing and just have a vision and create “the reality” for it.

Where Did You Attend School?

I went to Texarkana College for two years because it’s a junior college, and then I went to Texas A&M, and I graduated there in 2020.

College is more than just a degree.

It’s facing many different obstacles and overcoming those obstacles as yourself without help.

Because college is hard. It’s hard.

But if you think about it, it sets you up for the real world. It’s not about being smart or trying to prove something to people; I think there’s more to college.

People just think that.

Because even if you don’t go to college:

  • You still have to put in the work
  • You still have to put in the hours.
  • You still face obstacles and challenging situations in life that you weren’t prepared for.

You just have to get through it.

What Is Your Role At Braustin?

I am the Accountant here at Braustin.

What I like about my job is that it’s challenging to my mind.

I love learning new things in school, but they don’t really take time to talk about Excel a lot. There are a lot of formulas in Excel that we really didn’t get exposed to, just the basics and the fundamentals of accounting.

I think at first, when you look at some of the formulas in Excel, it’s very intimidating. I don’t understand it.

Now, I am learning a lot of different formulas. Even if I have to look it up on Google and figure it out, I’m just learning a lot and just taking myself through it!

Who Do You Have The Most Interaction With At Braustin?

Sydney.

She is a fun, dramatic person, but she’s hardworking.

I admire that; I like that about her, and that is why I keep her around me, for sure.

Do You Have Any Hidden Talents?

So, my hidden talent is – I love to cook.

I think I’m a chef, and I love the presentation of food. That’s important, because if it does not look good, sometimes – I can’t eat it.

Me and my mom used to watch the show “Chopped” all the time.

Every time my mom made something for dinner, I would critique it like them. I’m like, “I love the crunchiness.” I just go off.

She would be like, “Okay, Rahki.”

I have a famous taco bowl. It’s healthy and it’s delicious:

  • Brown Rice
  • Chicken, of course
  • Black Beans
  • Corn
  • Cilantro
  • Queso Fresco, I think that is how you say it?

I do like the “real deal.”I don’t use shredded cheese. You have to get the real stuff! Then I put some lime on it to top it off.

What Is Your Dream Car?

Audi.

Audis, Audis, Audis!

Every time I see them, I “break my neck” to look at them.

I like fast cars.

Would You Ever Go To Space?

I would go, but I’m not getting out.

I’ll take pictures by the window, but do not ask me to step on the Moon.

I’m not doing any of that. I don’t want to be set up.

I am staying in the shuttle.

You don’t know what’s out there on Mars. There could be aliens ready to shoot on-site!

Has anybody ever been there? You don’t know what type of guns they have!

I’m open to the possibility of there being aliens, but I’m not convinced enough. There’s not enough evidence for me to say, “I believe in aliens.”
