Redefining the Mobile Home Dealership (Psst.. Our San Antonio Location is Now Open)

Still a Different Kind of Mobile Home Dealer

First things first: We are so excited to announce that Braustin’s San Antonio mobile home dealership is now open! We hope you’ll join us for our Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, May 4th, 2019.

More details on the fun you and your family can expect during your visit will be announced soon.

Because of our recent shift from a virtual mobile home dealer to operating a physical dealership, today, I wanted to talk about the traditional mobile home dealer and how our priorities as a company influence the way we manage our own dealership.

The Traditional Mobile Home Dealer

In general, mobile home dealers aim to purchase acres and acres of commercial land that are then stuffed to capacity with nearly every make, model, and floorplan of home they offer as a company.

As you can imagine, this approach is nowhere in the ballpark of inexpensive. These dealers literally stock millions in inventory and hundreds of thousands of dollars in transport and set-up costs (not to mention insurance!)

And, as factories upgrade their product or change layout and features, these mobile home dealers must try and sell the outdated models to allow room for the new ones, racking up repetitive costs and fees that then must be passed on to the customer to recuperate.

Which is totally normal—all companies must price their product in a way that both covers expenses and produces a profit.

But, fortunately for us, we live in the digital era or the modern age, and we’ve found a way to do things a little bit differently.

Starting Out as a Virtual Dealership

As many of you may already know, when we opened the proverbial “Braustin doors” two years ago, our entire company was launched completely online, with four guys around a table in the Geekdom shared workspace.

Customers could visit us at Geekdom and “tour homes” through our virtual reality goggles, as well as take online walk-throughs much like using the little yellow guy in Google Maps to walk down streets.

Eventually that small team moved from the shared table to a small office, all the while helping families become home owners almost entirely online and over the phone.

During this time, Braustin developed and launched the Braustin App, another means of enhancing the customer buying experience and easing the loan and paperwork aspect of virtual home buying.

And while we proved that the virtual mobile home dealership is possible, we also knew that offering our customer’s the best possible experience meant opening a physical location where home buyers both comfortable and uncomfortable with technology could be served well.

A Dealership & Low Prices?

So how do we have it both ways—keeping our prices the lowest in the industry AND operating a traditional mobile home dealership?

Well, like I mentioned above, we do things a little bit differently.

Our dealership isn’t a sprawling twenty acres of model homes and instead we keep around 10 model homes at any given time, not overstocking and selling from our lot, but having the majority of homes custom built and delivered directly from the factory to the customer’s home site.

In the interest of continuing to provide the full scope of our inventory, we still use our Virtual Reality goggles to let customers virtually walk-through models and instantly compare and contrast with the physical home they are in.

Our methods are certainly unconventional but give us one of the most important priorities we have as a mobile home dealer: Offering the best home at the lowest price with transparency every step of the way.

We believe having a physical presence in San Antonio will help us reach more families ready to become home owners looking for an affordable home and a customer experience outmatched by any other mobile home dealer in the industry.

Help us spread the word and share our announcement with all your friends!
