How to Prepare Your Mobile Home for Summer

Did you know there are some things you can do to prepare your mobile home for the hot summer weather?

Ensuring your home is properly prepared for summer can help you cool your space more efficiently and seal that air. So go ahead, and get the prep work done now so that you can enjoy the warm sun and summer activities!

Let’s go over some tips on how to prepare your mobile home for summer!

Complete HVAC Maintenance

HVAC systems are put to the test every summer, so make sure yours is in good working order. Summer is also a peak season for seasonal allergies, so make sure your air filter is fresh and ready to go.

When preparing your mobile home for summer, you should also ensure that any visible areas around your system’s indoor and outdoor components are completely free of debris and clutter. Check to make sure there are about two feet of space around each component.

Clean Windows & Check Seals

Have you completed your spring cleaning checklist? If you haven’t gotten to your windows yet, now is the time! With summer approaching, you’ll want to make sure your windows are in good working order. If your windows aren’t properly sealed, you’ll lose a lot of cool air. Caulk windows also as needed and patch screens if necessary.

Consider giving your windows and blinds a thorough cleaning as well. When the sunlight pours in, it will shine through clean glass that is free of dust and fingerprints!

Inspect & Clean Out Your Gutters

Your home’s gutters can take a good beating during the winter season. Go around the outside of your house and double-check that your gutters are clean and directed away from your foundation. You never want water to pool near the foundation of your home because this can cause erosion around your skirting or foundation.

Tend to Weeds & Flower Beds

If you planted some new beds and created some new landscaping this spring, you probably see weeds sprout their heads all over! If you don’t have a weed barrier spread in your beds, now is the time to start maintaining the weeds. For further weed prevention, spray where appropriate before they get out of control!

Freshening up pine straw and mulch in your beds is also a great way to prepare your mobile home for summer. This is an easy project you can take on that helps the health of your plants and gives your landscaping even more curb appeal!

Summer is Right Around the Corner, Prepare Now!

Is your mobile home ready for the summer? If not, schedule a weekend to complete all of these important tasks. It is much easier to complete these duties sooner rather than later.

Prioritizing preventative maintenance steps is a wise move for homeowners, as opposed to waiting for problems to occur. After all, nobody wants to be caught in the heat of summer with a broken air conditioner!
