Manufactured homes are an affordable option for many people and can have a lot of the same qualities as a stick-built home. Quite frankly, it’s relatively easy to tell a mobile home from a site-built home. This may not bother most people, but some may want a more suited to their individual taste.
If you desire to take on some DIY projects here and there to transform the look of your new mobile home, keep reading, these suggestions may be useful!
To begin, adding a porch and even a sidewalk are some really functional and attractive finishing touches to your new home. After all, who doesn’t like a special space to relax outdoors? Some attractive landscaping around a mobile home can do wonders to help it blend into your property as well.
Consider planting some trees methodically, shrubs around the home, and even making some flowerbeds for a homey and customized feeling. However, avoid planting shrubs and trees too close to the house because the water they require can damage your siding and attract pests.
One of the most noticeable differences between a mobile home and a site-built home is the VOG (vinyl over gypsum) or tape-and-texture wall finish. If you aren’t aware already, you can paint these and give your mobile home a more refreshing look that agrees with your personal style.
Some luxury mobile home models are already accompanied by crown molding, but if yours does not have it, then that is a fairly easy DIY project you can take on to give your new home a more customized look.
Many mobile homes today come with very attractive and stylish light fixtures, but if yours are simple and you’re wanting something more, consider replacing those fixtures with something more customized and suitable for your taste.
Amazon is a great place to buy replacement lighting because they offer low-cost, stylish fixtures that are straightforward to install and ideally suited to smaller living spaces. If you do not feel confident in taking on a project like this, don’t jump the gun, hire a professional!
Nothing completes a room quite like a pair of curtains! An attractive pair of curtains can frame the windows in your mobile home beautifully and automatically make any room feel more customized and cozy. If you haven’t heard this clever tip already, be sure to hang your curtain rods as close to the ceiling as possible. This will draw the eye up and make the ceilings appear taller!
Another option we must mention is plantation shutters. Easy to clean, pretty simple to install, and extremely attractive, plantation shutters are very functional and great for adding a unique touch throughout your mobile home.
Mobile homes are wonderful because they allow regular people like me (and you) to own a home without being financially stretched. What’s better is that there are ways we can customize our mobile homes to rival any home, manufactured or not, and these are just a few ideas to get you started!
